Head of Risk Management
About Us:
At Trusted Novus Bank Limited, we are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity and regulatory compliance. We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Financial Crime & Security Officer.
Objectives of the Role:
- Support the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) by owning the day-to-day operation, maintenance, development and embedding of the Bank’s Risk Management Framework (RMF).
- Lead the Risk Management team.
- Ensure effective embedding of the RMF in line with the RMF policy and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Own the Bank’s Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) and the Risk & Control Log.
- Own the operational risk framework, including incidents, loss events, issues, actions, root-cause analysis, thematic reviews and escalation.
- Management of the Bank’s ICAAP, ILAAP, Recovery Plan and stress-testing processes, working with the relevant specialist teams.
- Maintain the Risk Taxonomy, policies, methods and tools.
- Manage Policy and Procedures (SOPs) updates as required, identifying and defending the need for amendment.
- Own the risk appetite framework, including KRIs, limits, triggers, monitoring, breach management and escalation.
- Close engagement with product and project teams to support the assessment of risks and project, product and service delivery.
- Provide subject matter expert advice to the business relating to risk management.
Criteria for Success:
- The RMF, Risk Taxonomy, methodologies, policies and SOPs are current, approved and demonstrably embedded across the Bank.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Bank’s risks and the existing controls designed to mitigate them
- All material risks and controls have named owners, current assessments, appropriate evidence and tracked remediation actions.
- RCSAs and KRIs are complete, reliable and timely.
- Incidents, breaches and actions are escalated and closed promptly.
- Prepare in a timely manner relevant reports/memos and minutes when required
- Able to provide systematic and accurate risk reporting to different audiences
- MRC reporting is accurate, timely, concise and forward-looking, clearly identifying exposures, appetite performance, control effectiveness, overdue actions and decisions required.
- Ability to perform thematic or focused reviews with limited guidance
- Challenge the status quo, think laterally and provide insight and guidance to business risk owners
- The team delivers credible oversight and challenge.
- Actively participate in risk projects and initiatives
Business Role Specific Competencies:
- Demonstrable senior-level experience of financial and / or non-financial risk management within a regulated retail, corporate or private bank.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a Risk Management team, set priorities, manage change and hold senior stakeholders to account.
- Proven RMF, RCSA, appetite and control-assessment capability.
- Strong 3 Lo D, governance and regulatory knowledge.
- Effective risk-data and GRC capability.
- Strong attention to detail, quality and accuracy
- Ability to identify practical, proportionate and sustainable solutions to complex risk and control issues.
- Demonstrate drive and initiative
- Create results through performance
- Prioritise and maintain focus on priority issues
- Demonstrate ability to work effectively and in a team-oriented environment
- Strong presentation skills when reporting
- Identify education and development needs within the role
